Q: What is a hose guide and why do I need one?
A: A hose guide is a tool strategically placed in the garden. It will protect your plants when you are dragging the hose around the yard.
If you are a gardener, I am sure there has been more than one pull of the garden hose that has wiped out
bulbs, annuals or perennials.
Q: Where do you get the knobs?
A: Anywhere I can! Flea markets and architectural salvage yards are good places to look,
generous locksmiths are a big help. Most often, decades of paint and/ or rust needs to be removed. Then they are either buffed
to it's origional shine or left with the natural Patina.

Q: How do they get in the ground?
A: The 15" steel rod is easily inserted into moist soil with a little pressure.
Please don't use a hammer.
Q: Do they do OK outdoors?
A: I made a pressed fluted glass one originally in 1997 and it had been outdoors ever since.
No Problem. The Iron knobs as well as the wooden ones have been clear coated for protection.
The brass ones will eventually have a wonderful patina.

Q: How do you know the age of a door knob?
A: There are few references out there, but there are several books regarding various decorative hardware. Did you know there is an ADCA (American Doorknob Collectors of America)? And if you are really lucky the date of a knob will present itself to you.

Q: How many do you need??
A: Ah! I sometimes wonder if I "need" over fifty varieties of Hosta, and the answer is usually yes. It really depends on the size of your garden. Where ever the dreaded hose has caused catastrophe in the past. (* my husband recommends every couple of inches)
